A non-profit organisation, Angel Smile Foundation Ghana (ASF-Ghana), has donated clothes and headgears to women on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) Cardiothoracic Centre and Maternity Wards to mark Mother’s Day celebration.
According to the Secretary of the Foundation, Iris Kwashie, the kind gesture was to commend and inspire mothers for their selfless, passionate, unconditional love, supportand care they give to protect their children.
She said mothers sacrifice so much to raise their children, and that effort must be acknowledged and rewarded.
“Today is Mother’s Day, so we, Angel Smile Foundation Ghana, want to wish mothers in a special way. Our founder, Prophetess Beatrice Ayorkor Adjetey, was a single mother so she knows the pain and challenges of motherhood. Therefore, today being a Mother’s Day means a lot to her.
“As part of celebrating mothers, she decided to show love and kindness to mothers as a way of congratulating them, as well as encourage them to have hope, do more, and should never give up on their good work,” she said.
Madam Kwashie added that the Foundation gave out half piece cloths totalling 170 and headgears to the mothers.
She, therefore, urged mothers to be serious with how they raise their children. “We celebrate mothers more, because it is the mother who has close contact with child, and as a result influence how children behave. Mother must take interest in everything their children do, including the kind of friend to pick, so that they will grow up to become responsible citizens.”
Dr Ofei Larbi received the items on behalf of the Cardio Centre and thanked the Foundation for the love that they have shared with the women on admission.
He equally used the opportunity to appeal to benevolent organisations and the general public to come to the Centre’s aid, as there are children with hole-in-heart who are in dire need of help.
