Yesterday, a mother in labour, coupled with complications, was attacked and robbed at Adukrom in the Eastern Region.
The vulnerable pregnant woman was being taken to the Koforidua Regional Hospital in the Yilo Krobo Constituency Ambulance with the registration number GV 644-20 when they were attacked and robbed.
The Yilo Krobo Constituency Ambulance was from the Akuse Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the early hours of Thursday, February 4, 2021.
The driver of the National Ambulance, whose name was not readily known as at the time of filing this report, was shot in the head.
Both the mother in labour and the driver were rushed to Tetteh-Quarshie Memory Hospital after the sad incident.
However, because of the critical state of the driver’s injury, he was further referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, for special attention.
The Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sergeant Gomado, confirmed the incident when contacted via phone.
He gave the assurance of updating the general public on the matter in the coming days, since, his outfit had some information regarding the incident.
According to him, investigations had commenced into the sad incident.
