Denkyirahemaa, Nana Ama Ayensuwaa Saraa III, says Ghanaians must ignore the myths and misconceptions surrounding the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.
According to her, the vaccine is safe and, therefore, admonished all Ghanaians, particularly, natives of Denkyira, to avail themselves for the vaccine
Nana Ayensuwaa, who is a board member of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), made this known after she joined other members of the board to take their jabs.
She told The Chronicle in an interview that taking the AstraZeneca vaccine was the surest way of getting one immunised against the deadly virus that had caused havoc around the world.
“The vaccine is safe, that’s why it has received the necessary approvals to be used against the virus, so we should do away with fears and take it”, she said.
Her husband, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, who accompanied her, also took the vaccine, adding to the number of high-profile individuals who have taken the shot.
She told The Chronicle that it was imperative for all and sundry to endeavour to take the vaccine because the virus is still causing harm.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was the first Ghanaian to officially take the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, followed by his wife, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
After taking the first dose of the vaccine, President Akufo-Addo said; “I decided to take it in public to clear all doubts and urge everyone to also accept the vaccine”.
Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and the second lady, Samira Bawumia have all taken the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Former President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Mrs Lordina Mahama, have also received their jabs of the AstraZeneca Vaccines.
Ghana became the first country in the sub region to have taken delivery of 600,000 of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines in the quest to conquer the virus.
