The Tema Regional Police Command is appealing to the public to help arrest one Aziz Fuseini, who reportedly poured hot porridge on the face of a police officer, which helped him and others to escape from lawful custody around 6:40 am on April 4, 2021.
The officer had opened the cell gate to detain another suspect, named only as Aziz, when the fugitive took advantage to throw the hot porridge into his face.
According to the police, seven out of 12 suspects who escaped from the custody of the Zenu-Atadeka District Police have been re-arrested.
Six of them were arraigned before the Ashaiman Circuit Court where they had been convicted on their own admission that they escaped from lawful custody.
Chief Inspector Dede Dzakpasu, the Acting PRO of the Tema Regional Command stated that, “The Tema Regional Police Command is making all efforts to re-arrest the remaining five suspects and called on the public to assist.”
The Chief Inspector explained that three out of the six suspects, who had been convicted, were picked from a hideout at Kubekrom No. ‘2’ on the same day of their escape, while the remaining three were picked at Juapong in the Volta Region on April 6, 2021, following a reliable information from the public.
The seventh person, Sumaila Karim, 21, Chief Inspector Dede Dzakpasu continued, surrendered to the police on April 8, 2021 “and he will also be arraigned before the court for escaping from lawful custody. The remaining five ‘wanted’ suspects are Richard Romeo, 30, Sulemana Ibrahim, 23, Abu Sadique, 29, Ibrahim Fuseini, 26 and Aziz Fuseini, 38.”
“The Tema Regional Police Command, therefore, calls on the general public and any person with credible information leading to the arrest of any of the escaped prisoners to report to the police on 0246259137, 0542719093, 18555, 191 or 1 12 for a handsome reward,” Chief Inspector Dzakpasu announced.
