President Nana Akufo Addo on behalf of Ghanaians has rewarded each member of the Ghana U20 team $10,000 for winning the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.
Coach Karim Zito’s side defied the odds to clinch Ghana’s fourth title after triumph in 1993, 1999 and 2009.
The Black Satellites beat debutant Uganda 2-0 in the finals to lift the trophy, making them joint successful team in the competition together with Egypt who have also won it on four occasions.
The entire team thus take away an amount totaling $330,000.
In addition, captain Daniel Afriyie, goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, Abdul Fatawu Ishahaku and Coach Karim Zito all received personal cash donation of $5000 each from the President.
Danlad and Fatawu won the best goalkeeper and player of the competition respectively.
